One of the short hikes I took was into Petroglyph Canyon to Mouse's Tank. The canyon has wall after wall covered with petroglyphs carved into the desert varnish. The path leads to Mouse's Tank: "Named for a renegade who used the area as a hide out in the 1890's, Mouse's Tank is a natural basin in the rock where water collects and sometimes remains for months." It was a chilly, heavily shaded pocket worn into towering rock - no wonder the water lingers! It was a challenge to get a good photo of it, but once I started playing with them - HDRs, with various processing treatments - I could not resist including multiple version for you to see.
